With contentment, even a little can become much;
With excessive desire, even much can seem little.

With love, every distance can be made near
and crossed with ease;
With hatred, even those who are near
can be made to seem far away.

With patience, every hardship
can be overcome with ease;
With despair, even what is easy
can be deemed a burden.

Through attention and hard work,
much good can be achieved;
Through carelessness, even hard work
and its fruits can all go to waste.
